Our Vision

We want to help our heroes and their families battle the effects of depression, isolation and stress through engaging activities and adventures. Heroes Resource Center provides much needed interaction with others in exciting, non-threatening outdoor environments. Our Adventures for Heroes program offers:

Our Programs

Adventure for Heroes matches our heroes to their desired adventures, either internally or through our network of activity providers.

Shooting: sporting clays; defensive pistol; long range rifle

Fishing: fresh and salt water

Scuba: introduction courses; certification; open water

Horses: beginner riders; day trips

Shooting

Adventures for Heroes offers shooting classes and events, for handgun, rifle and shotgun. We offer these experiences to service members, veterans, first responders and their families. Whether you are a beginner or experienced shooter, we have a program for you:

Defensive Handgun

Adventures for Heroes is proud to provide this essential training for those who are considering carrying a firearm or would like to gain confidence in doing so. In a low stress, adult learning environment this four part course will include firearms selection and safety, handgun fundamentals, concealed carry considerations, tactical mindset and more!

Sporting Clays

Adventure for Heroes is proud to partner with Reunion Ranch in Georgetown, TX for our bi-monthly sporting clay events!

6:00-9:00 PM October 11, 2023

This is a family event and we encourage new and experienced shooters to participate. We will provide the range fees and ammunition. Kids will have the opportunity to enjoy the company of other kids in non-shooting activities put on by the staff at Reunion Ranch. (Shooters must be at least 12 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate in the clay events.)

A delicious dinner will be provided by Reunion Ranch for the entire family.

If you are new to shooting a shotgun or sporting clays, don’t worry, we will have experienced shooters on site to assist and coach you.

We recommend that you bring your shotgun of choice, but if you need one for the event, you can borrow one of ours.

Register early as there is only room for 15 shooters per event. We request a donation of $45 per shooter and/$10 per non-shooter.

Long Range Rifle

Coming soon to Adventures for Heroes. Learn about long range rifle equipment, how to set up your gear, basic long range marksmanship and advanced shooting techniques. Whether new to the sport or experienced, we’ll have something for you.

Archery

Together with our friends at Archery Country in Austin, Adventures for Heroes is proud to offer indoor archery twice monthly!

Whether a seasoned archer or new to the sport, we will provide bows, arrows and targets for you and your family members (12 and older). We will also provide instruction for those just starting in this sport.

The range can accommodate up to 20 shooters. Snacks and water will be provided.

We require a deposit of $25 per shooter and/or family member to reserve your spot.

We will alternate monthly between Veteran Only and Family Day archery.

Fishing

Fresh Water or Salt Water? Bass or trout? From the shore or on a boat? Fly fishing? Look at what we have to offer:

Fishing in the Dark

Focused on healing veterans, Eddie will outfit you with gear and teach you how to catch bass! Fishing allows the mind to have something positive to focus on. It can help veterans heal psychologically, emotionally, and even physically.

Heroes on the Water

HOW provides all equipment and tailors each experience to the individual. Our volunteer-led events come at no charge to service members, veterans, first responders and their families.

Project Healing Waters

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.

Their Purpose is to “Bring back the power of hope to help one another by building a community of veterans, first responders, and their families.”

Therapeutic Recreation Group (TRG) believes a strong community blended with outdoor activity will bring bring down the suicide rate amongst our veterans and first responders.

Hiking & Outdoor Walks

Heroes Family Walk and Talk

Come on out for Adventures for Heroes Walk and Talk.

We are working hard to get our veteran, first responders, and families outside and moving. This is a family friendly walk/hike opportunity, which will take place at Williamson Park Nature Trail at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park. We will start and finish at a playground, so the little ones can get out any extra energy they may have. Please come on out and enjoy a morning of movement, fresh air, and good conversation.

Irreverent Warriors - Georgetown

The MISSION of Irreverent Warriors is to bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide. We take our mission very seriously and encourage those who desire to make a positive impact in the veteran community to join us in our efforts.

4WD and Overlanding!

Adventures for Heroes is proud to offer veterans and first responders the opportunity to join us for a Fox Bravo Overland adventure in 2024!

Fox Bravo Overland (FBO) is an off-road/overland adventure team consisting of U.S. military and law enforcement veterans who aggressively tackle long distance off-road challenges in their four-wheel drive vehicles.

Join our team!

We encourage and enable military and law enforcement members and veterans to join us, regardless of injuries or disabilities.
You do not need your own vehicle to join!

Hunting

Adventures for heroes wants to get you out hunting! We are working together with Texas Parks and Wildlife along with various other organizations and landowners. Programs vary from the Texas Youth Hunting Program to disabled veteran enabled hunts. Check back regularly for more information:

Texas Youth Hunting Program

The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) have joined forces to offer youth hunts that are safe, educational, and very affordable. They sponsor introductory, instructive youth hunts for a variety of species. They provide mentors, lodging, and meals.

Scuba and Pool Therapy

Heroes Below

Through the use of basic SCUBA gear and confined pool settings, Heroes Below offers an underwater zero gravity experience, floating in 6-8 feet of water while listening to your bubbles.

No experience necessary, and everything is provided for veterans, service members and first responders.

Through the experience of donning scuba equipment and going beneath the surface of the water, participants can experience a new world; one that offers new perspectives. The simplicity of the Heroes Below program is that you don't need to know how to swim because all we do is float.

Horses

Central Texas is home to many stables and equine programs and Adventures for Heroes wants to get you back in the saddle. (Or in the saddle if you’re new to horseback riding.

ROCK On Veterans

Join us for a program for active-duty service members and veterans partnering with horses and veteran volunteers. The goal of this program is to improve the lives of servicemen and women who have suffered injury in the line of duty, helping them adjust physically and emotionally to their post-war lives. The cost for veterans and service members to participate in three 8-week sessions is 100% covered through fundraising efforts and grants.
